What is it like to be a painter according to the artistic movement

A painter is an artist who uses paint, pigments, and other materials to create works of visual art. These works can be paintings, sketches, engravings, sculptures and other types of art. Painters use a variety of techniques to create their works, such as watercolor, oil, pva latex paint and acrylic.

To create art, painters elaborate drawing projects, known in the artistic world, as painting on canvas, canvas and surfaces.


Canvas painting is a painting technique that consists of applying paint to a fabric canvas, usually cotton or linen. This technique has been used for centuries to create works of art, from oil paintings to watercolors. The canvas is prepared with a layer and then I received the pigments and colors called ink.

In any case, painting is an art form that involves applying colored pigments to a surface, such as canvas, paper, wood, metal, or other material. Painting can be used to create images, express feelings or convey a message. There are many styles and techniques of painting besides painting on canvas, board and surfaces.

For example,  cave painting, which is a form of rock art that dates back to the Paleolithic period. These paintings have been found in caves all over the world, from Europe to Africa, South America and Asia. These paintings were made with natural pigments, such as iron oxide, clay, plants and even remains of insects and animals.

As you can see, painting is something infinite with various styles, however, the best known among men and women painters are variants such as modernism, cubism, surrealism, expressionism, abstract style and impressionism.


Surrealism was an artistic, literary and cultural movement that had its origins in France in 1924. This trend was committed to the creation of new forms of expression that allowed one to escape reality. I am on a quest to find a greater understanding of the human psyche.

Surrealist painting is based on mixing opposing and unrelated elements to generate new strange and poetic compositions. These paintings are characterized by their imaginative use of inhuman abstract images and their contribution to the creation of a new visual language.


Modernism was an artistic movement that sought to express modernity, social changes and emotions through art. This artistic trend began in the 1880s as a response to the austerity of the academic movement and the desire to incorporate new styles and experiment with new modernist painters.


Abstract painting is an art form that doesn't follow the traditional rules of visual representation. Instead, artists use shapes, colors and textures to create works that express feelings, emotions and ideas. That is,  abstract painting does not have a specific meaning, but it can be used to express something or some imaginary feeling!


Art Nouveau is an international style of art, architecture and design that emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is characterized by the use of organic and geometric shapes, as well as the use of highly stylized flowing lines. 

This artistic trend is characterized by the use of curved lines and organic shapes, as well as the incorporation of natural elements such as flowers, leaves and animals. In other words, Art Nouveau embodies the evolution of cave painting in modern times.

Art Nouveau is often associated with the decorative arts, particularly in its use of floral and other natural motifs. It is also known for its use of bright colors and its incorporation of modern materials such as glass and iron.


Classical painting is a style of painting that originated in Europe during the Renaissance period. It is characterized by its realistic depiction of human figures and historical scenes, with an emphasis on light, shade, color and perspective. Classical artists used painting techniques.

Classicism is an artistic movement that emerged in Europe (Greece and Rome) in the 17th century and lasted until the 19th century. It is characterized by a classical aesthetic, based on ancient Greek and Roman art. 

Classicism seeks perfection and harmony, and its main artists  emerged in Europe during the Renaissance period and was influenced by works by artists such as Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. This art form is identified by its attention to detail, proportions, colors and shapes of elements.


Cubism is an artistic movement that began in the early 20th century. It is characterized by the use of geometric shapes and abstract forms to create a new visual language. The movement was started by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, who developed a style of painting known as Analytical Cubism. This style was characterized by the use of fragmented shapes and planes to create a flat two-dimensional image. Later, Synthetic Cubism emerged, which was characterized by the use of everyday objects.

Synthetic Cubism is a form of Cubist art developed by French artists Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque between 1912 and 1914. This art form is characterized by the incorporation of everyday objects such as buttons, postal cards, newspapers, among other elements.


Expressionism is an artistic movement that emerged in Germany in the early 20th century. Expressionism seeks to express feelings and emotions through strong and vibrant shapes and colors. Expressionism is also known for its subjective approach to reality, as if artists accompanied life with more vibrant colors and disproportionately to traditionalist art.

In fact, the expressionist movement was a reaction to the traditional academic art of the time, which was seen as too rigid and formulaic. Expressionist artists sought to express their inner emotions and feelings through their art, often using bold colors and exaggerated shapes. 

For many painters, the movement was heavily influenced by expressionism, a philosophical and artistic movement that emphasized the subjective experience of the individual. Expressionist art often featured distorted figures, intense colors.


Figurative art is a term used to describe any form of art that represents or reflects the real or imagined form of objects, people, animals, landscapes or other elements of nature.Esta forma de arte é a mais antiga e mais comum, e inclui pinturas, esculturas, desenhos e gravuras.

Photorealism is a painting technique that seeks to recreate reality according to photography. This technique is characterized by the recreation of reality with great precision, using colors and textures that resemble photography. Photorealism was converted into motion by creating digital animations that mimic the realistic look of photographic images. This technique is used to create realistic visual effects in movies, games and other media.

Impressionism is an artistic style that started in the middle of the 19th century, mainly in France, but which also spread throughout the world.
